Lost In Thought is a new thing I try, it is my ideas that never came to be anything, not even a completion unlike Tentative writing. This is just ideas that ignited in my mind, then died out. You are welcome to take a read, maybe give ideas or even better, teach me how to keep the blaze of thoughts running for longer.

On the contrary of what many might say, this story is more of the hardest gained luck, and not the kind of finding a coin in the streets. The lands aren’t that co-operative about luck, especially not for the lower class.

Beyond the many streets, highways and raised tracks lies just one of the many, great piles of trash. In this case it was just another city to the statistics, but to the citizens within the city; it was a last choice option. The skyscrapers stood tall and fancy, lights shining out from the 3rd floor and up; just above the safe level from the troubles roaming the streets and alleys.

Hanging between the many tall giants, swaying in the wind were ropes tangled with cables; the illegal grid, as some of the officials stated on the local news. For years this had been the primary source of information without paying one of the major companies, you needed tons of paperwork just to be permitted a single connection. Therefore many agreed to compile a payment for a high connection, then spread it across the buildings from then off.

The city wasn’t one of the sunshine stories like Colombus, or other cities. We never got gifted with some hotshot industrialist to create hundreds of low paid jobs, developing the city for their own goals. There was no supermarket screaming for hire and sales, in fact most had as well abandoned the city, except for the now and then small bunker like building that opens up three times a day.

Luckily, the state took a shine to the idea of connecting the mainline of our subway to the rails going outbound, making it easier to get to work – if you had one. Under the roads, you could hear the train screeching by and through the city. This project had cost a lot of trouble for the state; the trains were bigger than the subway carts so they had to adjust the tunnels. Removing lights, signs and other things to just be able to squeeze it through, and still it would bump against here and there.

One thing we were lucky to have compared to some of the more growing cities, we had yet to experience the ‘stacks’ as the news and some travelers called it. Some cities were forced to hit the stage of having to stack up old mobile homes and containers, making them a large domino for the community to live in. They never looked safe on the news. Then again, living in a neighborhood where people on purpose moves higher up aren’t much safe either. Yeah, you could say we had a small water problem come the winter, the falls as well. Living in a coast city was never to your advantage, we were the first to be abandoned when politicians suddenly realized that global warming was a thing, and not some story made by a hippy.

Many people find joy in grasping for memories, savings to leave the states or even the biggest of all, the hunt. Now I speak like I am one of these hunters, but I am not. I hold no way near the thoughts those guys do. ‘Gunters’, a term I learned while fooling around in the Oasis. They were always mentioned within the video feeds as well as the money small cliques and groups. Supposed to be this group of hardcore gamers, some even to the turn of fanatic, searching for the one treasure of all; Halliday’s Easteregg. The video feed always feed with news of the explorers and possible hoax theories.

The Oasis, maybe I should tell you about that. It is what many years of minds have created. I am no brilliant mind in this at all; in fact, I “borrowed” mine from one of those rich kids up from the 40th floor. He was bragging out loud how he was given brand new gear. Flashing it around like some proud 10 year old, except he was 23, was driving me crazy.

"On the luck" was ment to be a sci-fi fantasy story built as a side story to one of my favorite books, "Ready Player One".
